1891 census

In 1891 there was a population of 103 living in 21 households. One house was uninhabited. There were 51male and 52 female residents, a balanced gender ratio. Heads of households consisted of 18 married couples, two single men and one widow. 29 people were born in Farleigh Wallop, 23 in the surrounding area, 27 elsewhere in Hampshire and 24 outside the county – the highest number to this date. The non-Hampshire born residents included a cook and coachman, both from London, and a butler from Nottingham all working at Farleigh House and farmers, including a retired farmer from Wiltshire, the foreman on Home Farm born in Wiltshire with his wife and four children born in Berkshire, the farmer at Manor Farm with his wife and niece born in Dorset and a shepherd and his wife from Berkshire. A cowman is recorded for the first time. 22 children attended school.
Occupants of prominent houses:
Farleigh House. Mrs.Routh and one unmarried daughter remained at Farleigh House with a resident cook, laundry maid, kitchen maid, housemaid and butler.
Manor Farm. Edward Lambert, his wife, niece and one servant were the only occupants of the farm. One family lived in the cottage at the farm, three of the family working as carters or yardman.
Home Farm. John Perry, his wife and six children lived at the farm house. Three cottages at the farm housed a shepherd and his family, a family who provided three farm servants and three young men, brothers, also all farm servants.
