1871 Census

This comprised the whole of the extra parochial place or parish of Andwell including Andwell Farm, the new cottages in the moor and the miller’s cottages near the mill and Andwell mill house.

In spite of the mention of new cottages on the moor, the population had fallen a little to 23 but occupations continued to revolve around the farm and mill although a smith and Methodist preacher was also listed but he worked outside Andwell.
