Stonehenge airfield landing ground between the Shrewton & Exeter roads west of Stonehenge was opened in 1917 for training bomber pilots.

The town was held by Brictric, a Saxon in 1086 after his father had held it at the conquest of William the conqueror in 1066.

First cathedral was built between 1075 & 1092 by the Bishop Osmond a larger building was on the site circa 1120.

Marlborough common exists at the heart of the settlement.

A market has occured in Marlborough throughout its history as was vital to trading in the town.
