Will of John Rogers, clerk 1696

Rogers was a clerk and widower who asked to be buried beside his wife in the chancel of the parish church. He left his properties and monetary bequests to his six children and two grandchildren. He divided his books and manuscripts between two sons and specifically £6 per annum to his son Nicholas ‘in case he meet with no better preferment than that he now has’. He also instructed bread to be made for the poor of Basingstoke and Eastrop.
