Will and Inventory of William Soper, gentleman 1688

Soper’s will opens with a statement of faith and bequests of 40s. for the poor of Dummer and 5s. to each of his servants. He left The Grange and all lands belonging in Dummer, Nutley, Basing and Wildmoor to Amy, his wife, and on her death to their son, John. The will list houses, farms and lands in nine other parishes in Hampshire and one in Buckinghamshire, showing his very considerable wealth.
