Will and Inventory of John Marriott, 1670

Marriott called himself ‘a poor unworthy creature and by nature a child of wrath’. He left his possessions to his wife, apart from his books and he left £20 to the parish of Dummer for an annuity of 20s. to be raised for the purchase of 3 bibles for poor children, the balance to be given to the schoolmaster, and a further £20 to Wantage for the purchase of bibles. His inventory totalled £690.
