Letters to the vicar

Canon Corfield, vicar of Taunton St Mary, received a regular stream of letters. As well as ordinary parishioners on active service his three gardeners and at least four of his choir were in the army, and he had five nephews serving. He was no pacifist and expressed pleasure at hearing that men were leaving for the front.
