Inventory of Henry smith clothier, 1675

Smith was a clothier with valuable fabrics, wool and fleeces listed in his shop and dyehouse together with a loom, shears and pressing equipment which totalled £154 6s. 6d. suggesting that he was still employed in the clothing industry which at this time in Basingstoke was dying out in favour of malting and brewing. He was owed a further £39 11s. 6d., from debtors living in Reading, South Warnborough and Ilsley, but in turn owed £88 1s. 9d.
