Will and Inventory of John Harford victualler, 1674

Harford was a victualler who left a nuncupative will. He probably ran an inn as the inventory listed four chambers, many beds and a large selection of pewter ware. He had a brewery and malthouse with malt and hops suggesting that he brewed his own beer. He also had a spinning wheel, a horse and pigs in the yard. Malting was replacing cloth as the main industry in Basingstoke by this time.
