Will and Inventory of Richard Murrel/Murall, tailor, 1617

Murrel wished for burial in Basing churchyard, and left his wife as executrix and chief beneficiary. He remembered his children and grandchildren, with money (son) sheep (daughter) and money when they were of age (the daughter’s three children) with the usual instructions in case any of them should die, or his wife before they came of age. There is no hint of his trade as a tailor in the inventory, just a modestly furnished house. He had two bullocks, two sheep, a sow and four piglets, ten acres under crop and five beehives, total value £24 8s. Barnard and Zachary Wakefield, neighbours, were overseers.
