Will and Inventory of Margery Bodham/Bodaham, widow, 1617

Bodham/Bodaham was the widow of Jasper (d.1614). She was formerly married to a Mr Bethel and much of her estate was left to her children from that marriage. She requested burial in Sherborne St John, and the same family friend who was overseer for Jeremy Bodaham was given responsibilities by Margary too – the implication is that they lived in the very north of the parish. The house would seem to be large and well appointed, from the detailed bequests left to all her children, and four are left a gold ring. Her eldest son was left some goods (presumably his father’s main heir) and her youngest son was made executor although still a minor – there were instructions for his education. Her youngest daughter (daughter of Jeremy) was given to the care of her sister, and the inventory listed the goods and property – a copyhold in Eversley – left to her. Her two elder daughters were left £20 each, and household goods and clothing, which was shared between all three daughters. £62 18s. 2d. valued goods left to Jane.
