Will and Inventory of William Smith, husbandman, 1615

Smith requested burial in the churchyard and there were a number of small legacies, but the bulk of his estate went to his widow and executrix. His five sons in law received 12d., and one also got some furniture; his three sisters also received 12d. each, and he gave 20s. to a lady in Basingstoke – all to be paid within six months of his death. He left farming equipment and mixed crops in the barn, but a small number of stock, just for domestic needs. His overseers each received 12d. each, the total value of the estate was £49 5s.
