Will of Francis Shrimpton, yeoman, 1608

Shrimpton made a full religious dedication but left no instructions for burial. He did however leave £4 for the poor. His son Michael Shrimpton was his main heir and executor, but he left a detailed list of special bequests to his wider family, and three of his servants. He left £120 to Michael’s brother William to finish paying for his apprenticeship in London and 20s. each to his brother and wife for a ring. He left 20s. each to his sons (in law?) whose surnames were Langrishe and Woodnorth for a ring, and £10 each to the daughters named Langrishe and Woodnorth and 20s. for each grandchild. He left half of an amount owed him to a kinsman in Rotherwick.
