Wil and Inventory of Jarman Randall/Randal, weaver, 1590

Randall was a landowner but such properties were not valued in inventories, which listed the usual furniture and fittings in the house, but also the equipment of his trade as a weaver in the shop – three looms with their gears, two wheels and a reel, together all being valued at £5 1s. 2d. His overall wealth would have much more substantial; the will listed his house and garden in Alton and also both freehold and copyhold land in Waltham on Thames. His estate was shared between his widow (executrix and residuary beneficiary) and his seven children; the three daughters received money from the rent of the house in Alton, the sons the property. The curate Joel Doughtie was a witness and probably acted as scribe; John Wakefield was again an appraiser.

With property in two dioceses this should have been proved in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury.
