Basingstoke 1851 Census - Enumerator Districts

The descriptions of the individual eight districts in Basingstoke describe the routes taken by the enumerators during their data collection. They give a valuable image of the town at the time not only by listing individual houses but also the numerous public houses, police station, railway station as well as streets long lost to modern town development. The change in districts is indicated in the accompanying spreadsheet covering the whole town.
