Will of Sir William Dunbar, Bart, of Dummer, rector 1882

Dunbar bart (d. 27 Nov. 1881) made provision for his wife but apologised to his son, Drummond Miles Dunbar, and to his two surviving daughters for having no money to leave them having been unjustly deprived of an expected legacy. In spite of this he left a personal estate of £2189 5s 8d. In a codicil to his will he bequeathed to his son three gold studs bearing the initials of friends and containing pieces of their hair, who represented for him the characteristics of conscientiousness, courage and catholicity.
