Will and Inventory of John Bailey/Balye, husbandman, 1576

Bailey/Balye requested a burial in the churchyard and 2d. was given to the cathedral. He left his working tools to his son Richard and cooking vessels and 10s. to his married daughter, the rest to his wife who was executrix. No land, crops or farming equipment was listed, and there were three cattle, two pigs and some poultry for domestic use – he probably worked for another farmer. A ‘hold’ in Dogmersfield was left to his wife, and after her to the son. Value £5 16s. 8d.
