Will and Inventory of John Collie, 1570

Collie lived in the north of the parish and requested burial either in Basing or Sherfield on Loddon whichever was the more convenient, and left 4d. to each church. He left a generous bushel of wheat for bread and a bushel of malt for drink for the poor. A friend and his eldest daughter got a special bequest, his other five (young) children were left 20d. and a sheep when they were of age, otherwise his wife inherited, with instructions that all should go to the eldest son if she should die. The equipment, crops and stock of a small mixed farm, total value £11 15s. 7d.
