Inventory of Richard Downes, 1558

Downes’ inventory amounts to £34, no will exists as he died intestate. The items listed are modest but he had 50 sheep and 24 acres of varying crops so he may have been a husbandman. The house comprised just a hall and chamber but there were outbuildings including a barn, yelding house with brewing equipment and woodyard. His wife Florence (d.1559), administered the goods.
