1851 Census

This census of 245 people (including 7 visitors), comprised six farms covering over 592 acres with their associated labourers, shepherds and carters. No one was resident in the parsonage at the time of the census. A high number of paupers, 21, were listed in receipt of outdoor relief, 16 of which were over the age of 50 and lived in The Barracks. Three women stated that they had been deserted by their husbands. Several occupations were listed as blacksmiths, wheelwrights and iron founders which may have been connected with the iron foundry in Hook, situated across the road from this parish.  Hethro is the old spelling of Heather Row.  Seals Farm is probably Searles Farm.
