White Rock, Ashcombe, Simonsbath

The entrance to the upper stretch of the valley is marked by great white rocks on either side. This is the one on the west side, that on the east is concealed by trees. The stones are in situ and part of the local geology but the surrounding ground has been dug away to expose them. When fresly exposed the shiny, white surface facing south would have been dazzling.
