Will and Inventory of Thomas Fry/Frye, husbandman, 1596

Fry’s will shows him to have been a wealthy husbandman. He left £23 15s. 0d. to each of his four sons ad his inventory, totaling £240, lists ownership of two properties in Wokingham, Berkshire, and indicates trade arrangements over a wide area. His livestock included 94 wethers, 60 ewes and five tegs valued at £55 and eight cows at £13 6s. 8d.  In the kitchen were 13 flitches of bacon and five pieces of beef. He also had a sword.

The debts owed to Fry indicate that he had business interests over a wide area of north Hampshire and Berkshire. Presumably he had a farm in Cliddesden as well as his properties in Wokingham.
