Will and Inventory of Amy Woodison/Wodeson, widow, 1559

Amy Wodison outlived her husband John Wodison (d. 1546) by 13 years. In the Catholic tradition, she requested five masses at her burial and five at her ‘month mind’ and gave the church at Cliddesden a ewe sheep and a lamb ‘to be prayed for’, as well as leaving a bushel of wheat for the poor. Her bequests included clothes and china and her estate was valued at £27.8s.0d. John Wodison’s will had left half his estate to his widow and half to his son; Amy’s inventory refers, unusually, to half the value of most items.
