Will and Inventory of Richard Austen 1559

Austen sought a ‘Christian-like burial’ in his will and, in the Catholic tradition, invoked ‘the most blessed virgin Mary and all the holy company of heaven’ to pray for him. He gave a sheep to the parish church of Cliddesden. His inventory, valued at about £23, included over 60 sheep and 20 acres of arable crops.
