Dunster fair

A fair was held in High Street from the 14th century at Whitsuntide. Sales of livestock and general goods were augmented by stalls selling luxuries like silver, books, confectionary and lace until the mid 18th century.

Before the end of the century it was in decline and the last recorded Whitsun fair in 1819 had only  seven standings including 'luck in the bag’.
