Will and inventory of Richard Ayliffe/Alyffe, 1572

Ayliffe and his wife, Alys/Alice, made wills within two weeks of each other. He was a substantial farmer with 20 acres of wheat and 101 sheep. He came from a wealthy family andĀ one of hisĀ ancestors was assessed as the second wealthiest person in Steventon for the taxes of 1524-5. Ayliffe was a copyholder of the manor of Steventon.
