Dunster Memorial Hall

The Memorial Hall, High Street opened in 1921 on the site of a malthouse and yard. The hall, with its 1924 clock, was licensed for entertainment in 1931, seated c. 150 and had a stage and billiard room. Films were shown once a week in winter in 1947.
The Doll Museum, started in the 1950s by Mollie Hardwick (d. 1970) as a private collection, opened on the first floor of the hall in 1971. Despite the theft of many older dolls in 1991 the collection has grown to over 1,300.
