Will and inventory of Gilbert Lookar/Lokar, Andwell, gentleman, 1594

Lookar was a very wealthy man (see Up Nately and Andwell probate material 1581-1600). His will was proved in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury but an inventory was also drawn up on the death of his wife of the goods which she was charged to administer after his death. It underestimates his wealth by the £55 which was given to her. Joan, his wife was charged with administering his estate for five years after his death so most of his possessions remained with her when she died two years after him. Two inventories were drawn up in 1594: one of the possessions she owned and the other of the ones she was administering in trust for her husband.
