Transcription of 1871 census

The population in 1871 was 311, equally balanced between genders (155 male and 156 female). There were 46 married couples and 20 widows or widowers, an increase from 1851 and 1861. 3 of the 69 houses were unoccupied. 140 inhabitants were Cliddesden natives, 144 had been born elsewhere in Hampshire and 27 had come from outside Hampshire. Occupations remained largely agricultural with cattle as well as sheep evident (dairy woman and cattle dealer). There were 23 domestic servants, 7 of whom were employed in the Rectory.
