Transcription of 1851 census

The population in 1851 was 314 (168 male and 146 female). This included 46 married couples and 11 widows or widowers. The 59 houses in the parish were all occupied with 158 inhabitants natives of Cliddesden, 134 people born elsewhere in Hampshire (many in surrounding villages) and only 22 residents who had come from outside the county. Occupations were mainly agriculturally based with 5 farmers, 61 agricultural labourers and 10 shepherds (including 5 boys). 19 domestic servants were employed in the larger houses of the parish.
