Ashby Magna Probate Material, 1661-1680

Grave marker at Ashby Magna

Ashby Magna is a small village in south Leicestershire, four miles north of the market town of Lutterworth. A small number of probate inventories have been transcribed, and that for William Burdett is particularly interesting, as it suggests he was a supplier to Leicester prison. We know little about Luke Bate, but his assets at death suggest that a good living could be made from farming the local land.
