Minehead Higher Town Letter Box

This letter box was one of those installed in the 1880s. In 1906 it was emptied at 9.50 am, 11.55 am, 3.25 pm and 5.55 pm Monday to Saturday and at 4.50 pm on Sundays. In the summer season from May to September there was a later weekday collection at 7.40 pm. The solitary present day collection is a sign of changing postal habits.
