Will and inventory of William Stocker, yeoman, 1604

Stocker was a yeoman, who was assessed on land for £2 tax in 1603. The family was of long standing and importance in the town, and was already part of the rich cloth-trading elite in the early 16th century. He practised mixed farming with nearly 90 sheep and 26 a. of arable crops. His weapons (arrows, a sword and a dagger) reflected the social status of yeomen.
