Will and inventory of Nicholas Smith, yeoman, 1632

Nicholas Smith held the second largest Corpus Christi copyhold, known as The Farm, which still lies at the northern end of The Street in Mapledurwell. Part of the surviving farmhouse, dates from Smith’s time. Smith is the wealthiest of this group with an inventory valued at £322 which included sheep and cattle and substantial arable crops. He farmed about 100 acres. He also possessed £150 in bonds and debts.
