Minehead Baptist Church

John Cocks became first resident Baptist minister in Minehead and in 1831 built a second chapel in the Parks area for 300. On Census Sunday 1851 62 adults and 38 Sunday school children attended morning service and 150 people went in the evening. The Parks chapel continued under a succession of resident ministers, the manse adjoined the chapel, but it was heavily dependent on visitors. Under J. G. C. Irvine, 1901—9, the chapel was doubled in size by F. W. Roberts of Taunton, the gallery was removed and a new entrance made from The Parks. The Revd G. J. Knight continued the improvements and extended the schoolroom in 1912. The chapel in Park Street, extended in 1967, remains in use.
