The Mohuns of Dunster

After the Conquest William de Mohun, from Moyon in western Normandy, was granted nearly 60 estates in the county and was made sheriff of Somerset c.1083. He established the seat of his barony at Dunster and built a castle there. It was held by the Mohuns for three centuries.
