Stag's Head, West Street, Dunster

The New Inn was kept in a large house north of the Methodist church, since demolished, by 1841. In the 1860s the business transferred to West Street, possibly to the former Bristol Arms kept by a carrier, presumably travelling to Bristol, in the 1840s. He may have given up the licensing trade before 1851. It was bought by brewer Arnold and Hancock in 1923. In the later 20th century its name was changed to the Stag’s Head, the name of a nearby public house that had closed. The building is a 15th-century house partly rebuilt in the 19th century and extensively altered internally.
