Union Officers

From the Minute Books, it is not always easy to see how and when they came and went, or read the names clearly, but a picture builds up.
There is a considerable turnaround in Workhouse staff over the ten years and the Minutes indicate much argument, bickering and animosity between them – it’s not surprising: these were people who were, in practise, confined to the Workhouse, on low wages and paupers rations, little free time and a desperate environment.
