Will of Thomas Burnell, c. 1590

This image shows the very damaged condition of some surviving probate documents.

Such as can be deciphered from it says:

In the name of the living God Amen Amen [sic] I Thomas Burnell of Eastnor in the county of Hereford, yeoman, being sick in body, yet nevertheless of good and perfect mind and memory thanks be unto Almighty God, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say: First I bequeath my soul unto Almighty God and my body to be buried in the churchyard of Eastnor. First I give and bequeath unto my four daughters 40s. apiece, and unto Thomas [MS torn] the which was given them by [tear] unto Joan my wife all my goods movable and unmovable and [I] make and ordain my sole executrix my said wife

Note that the parish register shows children of Thomas Burnell being baptised in the 1570s and Joan Burnell, widow, buried in 1615. There are no entries of burials from 1578 to 1591, nor for 1593. [Herefs RO BO93/1]
