Patcham Place in about 1815

Although this house looks Georgian, a small country house stood on this site from the sixteenth century and remains within this building.  The Paine family extended it and faced the building on the north and east sides with black mathematical tiles. They added a garden to the north side and may have planted the wilderness on the west side although it could be older.
