Bishop's Palace, Wells; coronation cope

For Edward VII's coronation in 1902 matching copes were made by Watts of London for the bishops of Bath and Wells and Durham who supported the sovereign during the cermony. The cope has been used for coronations since and has been carefully altered to fit bishops of differing height. It represents many hours of dedicated work by skilled embroiderers.
