Silk Mills pillbox or sentry post, Taunton

This pillbox is in fact a sentry post and was one of several guarding the supply depot. It takes the form of a tower c 16ft high and c. 8 ft square built of concrete and brick. The entrance leads to a small basement less than 4 ft high from which a steel ladder passed through a hatch into the viewing room with slit windows. The ladder continued to the roof.
