Former school at West Lydford

The West Lydford National school was completed in 1873. In 1946 the closure of East Lydford saved the school from closure. It which obtained aided status in 1952 as Lydford on Fosse Primary school. A prefabricated extension was built in 1958 when two teachers taught 35 children. The school celebrated its centenary in 1974. By 1986 there were 50 children on the roll but only 20 in 1988 and 12 in 1990 when the school closed. Most pupils transferred to Keinton Mandeville or Baltonsborough. The school became a private house.
