Former White's ironmongers, Fore Street, Castle Cary

This shop in Fore Street, Castle Cary was reconstructed in 1804 as a general storeĀ for Antony and Ann Nancolas whose initials appear on the datestone. It is finely built from local Cary stone with Doulting dressings. The elegant shopfront was inserted probably c.1883 when White's ironmongers was established in the premises. The interior hardly changed for the next hundred years.
