As well as the work on the house Edward Forbes designed a model estate for Col Lyle although at the time he had little more than a dairy farm. There is a Scottish influence in these long low ranges of estate buildings. Here the range, which backs onto the great kitchen garden, includes a laundry, gardener's house and a gardeners' mess.
