St Catherine's chapel, Hylton Castle

Early mention of Hylton chapel, dedicated to St Catherine, occurred in an agreement, dated 1157, between Romanus, lord of Hylton and the prior of Durham by which the Hilton family was permitted to have its own chaplain within the chapel.
