Town halls

Sunderland' s first purpose-built town hall was the Exchange Building. The second, Victorian, town hall was replaced by today's civic centre. Other important public buildings were the Victoria hall, used for public events, and the River Wear Commission offices, administrative headquarters of one of the town's leading public authorities.
