Hardwick Old Hall, east wing

The east wing of the Old Hall had, on its top floor, one of the hall's two great chambers. Its name comes from the forest scenes with which it once originally decorated. The surviving plaster overmantel shows some of the forest imagery, inspired perhaps by the surrounding deer park and the pair of stags which formed part of Bess's arms.
