Chatsworth House from the south east

The east range also was designed by William Talman and formed the next stage in the replacement of the Elizabethan house. The front of it was plainer thanĀ the south front until it was altered by the 6th duke's architect, Sir Jeffry Wyatville, in the early 19th century. Wyatville added the projections with classical pilasters, and removed atticĀ  windows which had looked like those on the south front.
