Codford Railway Station

Codford station, with the stationmaster’s lodge nearby, opened in 1856 at the far south-west corner of the parish, and was linked to the main road by the realigned Boyton Lane, renamed Station Road.  The station was crucial during the First World War, linking the mainline with the Codford Camp Railway which served the Codford military camps.  However in 1955, in the face of competition from bus services and cars, Codford and all the other intermediate stations between Warminster and Salisbury were closed.
